✦ What We Look For

The bar we set. The founders we back.

We don't invest in categories — we invest in conviction. Here is exactly what we look for, so you can assess the fit before you reach out.

Sharp focus.
Deep commitment.

KAPT Ventures is not a broad-mandate fund. We are a focused venture studio backing digital-first consumer brands in India — primarily D2C, social platforms, and consumer internet products that address a real, felt human need at meaningful scale.

We are stage-agnostic but idea-specific. We have backed ideas at the napkin stage and at early-revenue stage. What has not changed is our standard: we need to believe in the problem, the founder, and the path to a sustainable business. All three. Not two of three.

We back a small number of companies and go very deep. If we invest, you get our full attention — not a quarterly board call. That means we are selective. Read the criteria below honestly before reaching out.

Our 5 Investment Criteria
01
A Real, Felt Problem

Not a market gap identified in a report — a problem someone is actually experiencing today, frequently, and with enough frustration to pay for a solution. The best founders have lived this problem personally.

Signal: Customers find you before you find them
02
A Scalable Business Model

A credible path to revenue that makes sense at scale. Does the unit economics make sense directionally? Can this grow without proportionally growing cost? D2C brands, platforms, and marketplace models are our sweet spot.

Signal: You can explain how you make money in one sentence
03
A Founder Who Executes

Ideas are abundant. Execution is rare. We back founders who ship — who launch imperfect products, learn from real users, and iterate fast. Coachable but convicted. Resilient without being delusional.

Signal: You have already built something, even if it is small
04
An India-First Opportunity

We invest in India. Our network, our operational depth, our distribution relationships — all are India-specific. The opportunity must be primarily rooted in the Indian consumer market.

Signal: Your primary customer is Indian
05
A Path to Defensibility

We need to see how this gets harder to copy over time — through brand loyalty, community, proprietary data, network effects, or distribution moats. Tell us what makes this defensible in year three.

Signal: You can articulate your unfair advantage
What We Do Not Back

Late-stage companies looking for large growth-round capital only
✕
Businesses in regulated sectors requiring deep compliance expertise (pharma, insurance)
✕
